Pre existing clause?
Theres nothing more confusing than this. I have been getting treated with medicade for Morbid obesity and my medicade ran out. Im now getting health insurance through my job and Im afriad im going to have to wait. Also, Im going to a dr.apt without health insurance..Should I not do this? Would this make my wait time longer??
I've always heard the Pre-exisiting clause was not applicable to anyone who has held health coverage for an extended period of time with no lapses. I'm not sure if having Medicaid would count as it state funded and not employee / employer funded.
Call the company you're going to have coverage through and ask them.
As for seeing a doc now with no coverage .. I wouldn't do it if I weren't able to pay. In my office, we would expect payment from YOU at the time of service.
Just something to think about.
Medicaid should be considered creditable coverage as long as there is not more than a 60 day lapse in coverage between Medicaid and your new insurance company. If there is over a 60 day lapse then I would wait on seeing a Dr for any new problems as that would be considered pre-existing and could exclude it up to 12 months only though.
Hope this helps
