Atena or Blue Cross

My boyfriend is starting a new job.  The choice of insurance is Atena or Blue Cross.  I know Atena covers WLS but does Blue Cross?  We were playing on getting married in next year.  He said he will marry me earlier than that so I can get on his insurance.  Anyone have Blue Cross Blue Shield? Anthem covers weight loss surgery also but the question you need to ask your BF is does his specific policy through his employer cover wls period.  You can not look at the Insurance Company itself you have to look at the individual policy.  You need to find that out and go from there Vicki

I speak from experience when I say "Aetna Sux!", but that's just me.

My husband had BCBS and it actually paid for WLS but we fond out just after submitting that it was excl.uded by employer. Now my husband has Aetna and it has WLS under their policy ,but then again the employer has excluded it. I have just gotten insurance with my own job in which mentions they approve of Surgery but haven't submitted yet. Ask theri HR specifically to let you see a summary of benefits documents (it is usually in a PDF form and they either have it online or they can email your BF or you the link) Hope that helps and good luck Ellie
