I finally got my insurance company to give me a list of "in-network" bariatric surgeons.  However, it appears that they have given me general gurgeons rather than bariatric specialists.  How do I research these docs and how to I fight the insurance company on this?

Bariatric surgeons are also general surgeons, they have the training to do gallbladders, hernias, colons, etc. Some specialize after a few years to only bariatrics, but they all start as general surgeons. What are you fighting the ins co for? Are they saying you did not use a preferred or in-network provider? Bonnie

"fighting" is maybe the wrong word.  This is major surgery and I would like to use a bariatric specialist.  I'm concerned about using a general surgeon.  My "fight" is with whether I can make the insurance company allow me to use a bariatric specialist. I can see bariatric specialists on the web.  How many surgeries they've done, etc.  How do I get this type of info about a general surgeon?  Thanx for the help.
