Psych Eval

OK - here's the problem.  My insurance company (Health Alliance HMO) says that since I did their required 'health coaching' successfully that I don't need a psych eval, but my surgeon won't do the surgery without it.  I'm stuck.  Any suggestions? My PCP backed off on submitting a referral to the insurance for the eval because they said it would automatically be denied and appealing it would be time consuming and useless.  Do I just suck it up and pay another bill or is there something out there that I can use to fight it with?

If your surgeon requires it then there's no way around it.  Sounds like you just have to suck it up and do it.  Thankfully my surgeon didn't require one but many do. Sandi

Mine had to be done before they would send in my paperwork to the insurance.  Sorry.
