I read on one of the forums that there is insurance that can be purchased for post op complications if you are self pay.  Does anyone have any information on this?  Thank you. Carole

Carole, Sorry no one got back to you. Paul is on here a lot with excellent advice, and it was he who informed another poster about this. Now, it's in reference to Plastic Surgery, but I'm sure you can get it for any procedure (just probabaly more pop w/ PS b/c almost always self-pay). Here' the link, and you night want to PM Paul too. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/insurance/a,messageboard/a ction,replies/board_id,5363/cat_id,4963/topic_id,3450262/ Best of luck, Kahlua

Carole, I just spoke with my insurance carrier and was told that my insurance would cover complications due to surgery even though it did not cover the surgery itself. They did mention that it would have to be coded correctly. I hope this helps! Julie

I kind of got the same answer but in an off the record kind of way.  The manager said that since the surgery was not covered any complications would not be covered.  But she said that it also depended on the coding.  Being in the health care field I knew what she meant.
