Aetna & the 5 yrs of documented weights....
I hope there are some exceptions in this....I have only been to the doctor's this past year. Before I began this process last april I had not been to a doctor in 12 years. I have no other way to prove my obesity other than photos and written statements from family and friends. Is there any other way? I had not weighed in anywhere it could have documented.
Hey Matt
There must be somewhere you have a recorded weight, it does not have to be from your family physician. It can be from a walk in care center, emergency room visit, allergist, dentist records, LA Weight loss, Weigh****chers. Do you have a clinic at your job where you were seen for a work physical? I had one patient use her high school records from the school nurse (she was only 21).
Think really hard, somebody, somewhere must have weighed you, all you have to do is track it down.
Like the poster, you can get a letter from your dentist, counselor, whoever stating you were clearly obese, I'm sure it's in your chart anyway.
What is up with you guys never going to a doc!! He he!
Do the 3 month "multi-disciplinary prepatory regiment"! See your md, a nutritionist, and an exercise therapist (any physical therapist can code it for therex if you need), then when you get denied by those fab folks at Aetna, then do a second level appeal (start by calling the gems at member services on the card). Use photos, clothing orders, or anthing that you can to prove that you were in the range of acceptable obesity 5 years ago. You'll have to appeal big time as Aetna's requirements are the 5 years plus the other stuff, but in most situations, you might be able to get a med provider you saw 5+ years ago to document your health condition then. Good luck, if you need any further help, just ask.
