Who to talk to?

If I have questions about getting approved and what's required in my insurer's policy (Aetna), who do I ask for?  Member services, while they are very nice, can't answer most of my questions.  I have read Aetna's policy, but I have specific questions regarding my specific situation in reference to that policy.  Is there a certain department I need to ask for? I sent an email and I hope it will reach the appropriate department, but I have a feeling I will need to call as well. Thanks!!!

Unfortunately, I believe that you have to talk to customer service or possibly one of their nurses.  I had one that started calling me as soon as I submitted the first packet without my 6 month diet.  Best of luck.   Kim P.S.  You could always talk to the person handling your account through the surgeon's office.  My insurance gal was helpful, and she deals with it day in and day out.  I am sure they would be able to offer some advice, if you already know Aetna's Medical Policy.

Tiffany, I agree. The people at Dr. Schweitzer's office seem great at helping with the insurance stuff. That was the one thing I was really happy to see tonight. It might be worth calling over there tomorrow to see if you can ask them what they think.  Heather

Definitely check with your HR even if insurance company includes it, I learned it the hard way. I went ahead and checked with insurance company 3 times but when we submitted it, insurance called and let us know that the employer ( a global cunsulting company) has excluded the surgeryt since 2007!!! SO you would be safe to check and recheck even iwth your own HR system. Ellie
