Anyone approved for a TT who has Tricare Prime for their insurance?
I had RYN in 11/3/06 and my weight has stabilized now that I'm past my 1 year mark. I like many others, have quite a bit of excess skin/fat in the abdominal area that I'm always being asked when I'm due. (Mind you, I am not able to have any more children due to a hysterectomy over 14 years ago after the birth of my only child and when I gained the weight. ) These comments are hurtful and depressing, even if those who make the comments don't realize my situation.
I'm 38 years old, have had serious back and neck problems that have plagued me for over 13 years due to my obesity, that has left me with permanent damaged to my lower spine. Since having WLS, I had hoped that with all the weight loss, there would be improvements. But due to the hanging of the excess skin/fat, it seems that it has added more pressure on my lower back that it has been painful and uncomfortable to continue my exercise routines. I went to see my military doctor (aka my PCM) for my continuing back problems and to look into having a TT done. I spoke to one of the Tricare associates and asked a few questions to see what steps were needed to get at least an evaluation, well she wasn't very nice , let alone helpfull. Just went on about that there is a major criteria to qualify for such procedure and that I most likely won't get approved but my PCM could put an referral and go from there. I have yet to get an evaluation on whether or not I would qualify but her tone and facial expressions were pretty much telling me I was out of luck. I due to get rashes from the excess sweat that accumulates in the folds of my stomach, but I'm able to keep it in control with creams, powders and wrapping an ace bandage to lift up the skin a bit. I know it sounds weird, but I can't stand dealing with itchy rashes let alone one getting infected, but I can't due too much for the pain. I've been on pain killers, wear a back brace and receives physical therapy to no avail.
So, my many questions is has anyone who has Tricare Prime insurance in the state of California have had or will have TT? Were U approved by the insurance company? How did u get approved? Any tips or advice for me to get the approval?
Thanks!

on top of your medical reasons for it, got to a psych and discuss the depression. The number one reason for tricare to approve plastics is depression! I know about 4-5 people who have had tt, boob jobs, breast reductions, breast lifts, all due to depression being the number one reason. Also Tricare is pretty good about approving plastics after WLS from what I have heard.
