Hi all!  I have BCBS of IL PPO and only have one more supervised diet visit to go to in early Jan.  The Dr's office set up my psych eval for this Tuesday and told me they would check benefits for the visit.  My question is does anyone who has the same ins know if it's covered or will they expect payment on Tuesday?  My hubby's car broke down and we had to get it fixed today (he drives all over for work) and it cost us $600 that we didn't have right before Christmas.... If they are going to want payment in full for my visit on Tuesday I might have to reschedule.  who knows how long that will take! Thanks in advance!!

BCBSIL PPO covers the psych eval, if it is in network.  My psych guy was in network but did his evals for the surgeon in the surgeon's office, and he did not want to file the claim, so I had to pay in full up front, and then get reimbursed.  Reimbursment with BCBSIL is extremely difficult, as is getting an ok for the surgery in the first place.  I was told, though, that it is very rare for a psych dr. to not file their own insurance.  I would imagine that you will need to pay the co-pay only. Please see the post I made a few days ago regarding getting BCBSIL to cover this proceedure.  I had a very difficult time getting the ok for this surgery, and only got coverage after filing a complaint with the insurance commission.  (Which was actually a simple form on-line) I also discovered that you will get a different customer specialist every time you call the BCBSIL number, and each one will not seem to know what is going on with your file.  You need to get familiar with a customer specialist, and ask for him/her by name every time you call.  I use TIA, and she is GREAT...Has been very helpful to me! thank you Robyn.  I saw your post about getting approved and made a mental note already about contacting the IL ins commision.  lol I have a feeling I will be denied at first as well because 4 1/2 yrs ago I was not "morbidly" obese...just obese.  I have steadily gained over the years, but they won't care.  Thanks for the info again! and good luck with your surgery!!

I also have the same ins. they do cover the eval, if you use someone in network. I did and only paid the co-pay amount.                              Renee

Well I had my eval today and I ended up having to pay $230.  My BCBS PPO only paid 60%.  It all worked out though and it's all good now.  All I have left is to do my 6th month nut visit, which is on Jan 3rd and it can be submitted.  I am nervous now. Thanks for all of your info!!
