Medi-Cal? DS?

I am 23 years old 5'4 285 lbs. Have been at least 100 lbs overweight since I was 14 or so. I want to have DS done, but I have Medi-cal. I don't think they will approve me for DS and if they do, the only hospital in my area that takes Medi-cal has a fighting waiting list. Has anyone else had to go through Medi-Cal? DS or not...

You should try posting this on the DS forum.  I'm not sure of your insurance (I have a different one), but those who have already had the DS could probably help you.  I know that some insurance companies don't approve the DS or the sleeve...some only approve the LapBand or RNY (which are MUCH cheaper...so it makes more financial sense for them).  But, I also know that there are many on the DS board who had their denials overturned by external appeals.  I also know that California has the best external appeal process in the US.  There's a wonderful lawyer who hangs out on the DS board who is a real advocate for the DS.  Her name is Diana.  I'm sure if you post this on the DS board, you'll get her to reply.
