I have medicaid and medicare i  got my band 6/11/07  and  went from 250 to 211  but I'm up 216  when i got my surgery i was told medicare was going to pay for the surgery and fills  so thats why i went ahead with the band  but now i'm told i have to pay for every fill and  unfill i've been tight for 4 months now throwing up left and right can't eat food  but sure can keep down junk food  that's how i'm gaining i can't afford  to be getting fills  when  needed  or in my case right now an unfill  i am so misrable right now i recieve disability once a month so again i can't afford fills. i wish  they  would of told me this before i got this d**n band. so my question is will  medicare pay for  a different kind of wls 1 that i don't have to be worrying about how to get money for fills and unfills?  Debbie

I know medicaid does pay for revisions, but you are not that far out.  They may want you to wait a certain amount of time to give the band a chance.... not sure.  Medicaid pays for the DS, so I am assuming they also pay for the rny too.  Good luck!

As for revisions, Medicare covers open and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP), laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) and open and laparoscopic biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (BPD/DS) if certain criteria are met and the procedure is performed in an approved facility.
