Can they REALLY require THREE YEARS supervised?

Well I finally got word from the insurance company via my surgeon's office.  The insurance lady in the surgeon's office was told by the insurance people that if I don't have the record of the three years of dieting efforts, then I have to go on a 6-month supervised diet. I haven't received any official word from the insurance company themselves. (Guess I oughta call them too!)  I consider this GOOD news, as I weighed in in July (but probably not good enough to count as one of the months) and I spoke to my doctor about WLS in August (again, might not be enough to count as a month) but I also went and saw him in September specifically in case they were going to require a 6-month supervised diet, so that I could discuss my diet and exercise with my doc. I figure that I will have to see the doc in October (appointment Monday), and November, December, January, and February in order to be approved. They MIGHT require March as well, but I'm hoping that my visit in August will count. I plan on applying again for approval in January or February.  Of course NOW I'm worrying about ... WHAT do they want to see? Do they want to see me be UNSUCCESSFUL or do they want to see me being SUCCESSFUL? Will they not approve me if I lose too much? What if I don't lose enough? Or will they just take a look at my results and decide on the spur of the moment that those are not good results?!? (hate these mind games) Right now I'm dieting fairly successfully, and I have a goal of making 299 lbs by January 1st. I think that if I were to continue with my current diet I might be able to make it to 265 or so before hitting a plateau. somewhere along the line I will hit a plateau and be unable to do much more without help (because I've hit THAT wall a million times in my life).  Hubby pointed out that our Christmas travels are likely to result in a slow down in my weight loss (four days on the road with only fast food to eat and a week where I have to consume mother-in-law's food?... major slowdown!).  Anyway, I thought I would go ahead and post an update to my situation.
