I was approved in less than 24hrs.  As long as you meet their requirements its not hard at all to get approved.  Tricare's requirements are:

1.  You must be 100 lbs. over ideal body weight and have a co-morbidity OR

2.  Be 200% over ideal body weight with no co-morbidity

I didn't have any diagnosed co-morbs...I was over 100lbs. over my ideal body weight and they approved me because of chronic pain in my weight bearing joints.

Good luck to ya!

it was actually more challenging to get the referral off base than it was to get the tricare approval.  And the previous poster is right on--they have their categories.  You just need to fit in one or the other.   Good luck!

I had a hard time. Tricare has recently become alot more strict on the requirements. I got denied the 1st time and submitted an appeal after having a sleep study and then got approved, but it took 7 months. Good luck!
