I am sorry to hear that you were denied.  I do not have the sample letters and have posted a similar question in two areas without a response!  I'll forward to you if I stumble upon them!  Good luck!! Regards, Deborah

Gary, You can check out Kimberly Frendy's OH account.  She has an appeals letter there that is really good.  Also www.vsgfaq.com has an appeal letter.  Look under resources and then denied by insurance. Hope these will help. Jo

Here is the link to appealing your insurance denial.  It also includes a sample appeal letter. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/information/wlsjour ney/insurance+trouble.php Hope this helps!

Hey there, I wish you the best in your endevors with insurance.   I wish that I could tell you that since.... I did everything and more than the insurance company required....really jumped thru all the 'hoops',  I still got DENIED!!!   As you can imagine, that really upset me.... Instead of going thru a long drawn out appeal process, I just decided to self pay with a wonderful surgeon in Mexico.    I really was upset with Cigna, and if something bad would of happened to me in Mexico, I would have hoped my husband would have let them KNOW what they forced me to do. My USA Dr. wanted $22k for my surgery....(and he had only done 14 VSG's)  I went to Mexico and saved a ton on $$ and my surgeon has done 100's of them.    And he was so attentive, something my USA Dr. was NOT. Aren't you regretting asking me that 'self pay' question?   HA... Hey listen, it's all good and I am happy that it is done and I'm not stressin' any more over insurance. Don't let this post dissapoint you...as several people really do well with their insurance co.'s.....I have several co-morbidities and my BMI never went below the 35..in fact I gained a bit during the 6 month Dr. Supervised diet because of cortizone shots I had to have.... Now I am looking forward to a much healthier life, maybe with less co-morbs! Take care!
