Cigna Denied My Surgery!

Cigna has denied my surgery. Kathleen (insurance coordinator) in Dr. Davidson's office is appealing. Kathleen said they said I didn't have evidence of 1 year BMI above 40 (I do) and didn't see a dietician (I did). Kathleen said she is resubmitting today or tomorrow. She said 90% of appeals are approved, but she might have been trying to cheer me up. Please pray for me. Has anyone else had to do an appeal? I'm so sad right now.

Dont be sad! I dont think she would say that if it wasnt true, she could have just said nothing at all! I have read about many people appealing and winning. I am making myself physically sick waiting on my approval, I have gotten 3 or 4 hours sleep each night for 2 weeks...I know how you feel. It will be over-turned...call her tomorrow and ask her, how long it takes to hear the results from an appeal! Dont give up!

Don't lose heart!!  I was denied and did my own appeal and won!!!! And I wasn't given a reason for the denial either. The letter they sent was so vague, even the surgeons office didn't understand. But the office staff has screwed up my file big time and I wasn't going to risk them messing up my appeal.  I sent everything in myself. I stayed in contact with them on the phone. And one day - after MUCH waiting - I was approved for my surgery!!!!!  Keep you chin up, just resubmit your documentation and it will happen.

Today I called and spoke with the nurses, they said I wasn't denied it was just an additional information request. I guess that's good news. I spoke with the insurance coordinator from the surgeon's office and with Cigna and they say I should get a final answer on Monday. I was super nice on the phone with everyone. The Cigna nurse said she would call me as soon as she heard something. Hopefully they'll say yes and I'll be one day closer to shopping at BCBG :-)
