I didn't think I had to have a 6 month supervised diet...but now the surgeon's office is saying I need one for Tricare. I think they are submitting it through standard or something other than prime remote... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Angie

It is my understanding that it is NOT required for Tricare Prime.  It may just be the Dr. standard proceedure because all others require it. I would call Tricare and as what exactly is needed for the approval process.  All I was told was the doctor would need to submit the form that is available on their website.

Thank you. That is what I thought too. I have a call into my case nurse.  So we'll see. Angie

I would call tricare, because I have tricare Standard, and its not required there.  in fact, i didn't even need pre-approval.  As long as the doc said I needed it 9and I met the criteria) then it was considered approved. Good luck!

I called Tricare and it was explained to me that all they needed in hand was a statement that said I had been on a diet (not even a named diet i.e. Nutrisystem, WW etc) and my doctor's knew and weighed me...for at least six months. So they just updated my profile at the surgeons since I've been going there since March 07.I asked Tricare if it counted that I'd been on a very low fat diet(doctor ordered) since my heart surgery in September 06. She said yes it counts I just need the paper saying that and how much weight you've lost doing that. (13 lbs) hah! That'll show them.
