Newbie here with BCBS (Federal Employees Plan)

I am also pursuing the LapBand. I believe they started covering it 8-12 months ago.

FED BC/BS started covering The Lapband in 2007.  I am a Federal Employee and had RNY.  Federal BC/BS is be far the easiest insurance in my opinion to get approval.  I was told that by the staff where I had the surgery.  I am also in the state of Kansas and went real smooth.

I have BCBS - Federal Employees Plan, also, but I am in South Africa  (Jessica - I work for USDA/FAS,   ARS' cousin....) It sounds too good to be true, but I was told they do not pre-approve from overseas.  I basically get it done and submit the paperwork for approval (I have over 40 BMI).  HMMM.. We will see how easy it is...... Kari
