Can Anyone Recommend A Good PCP In Suffolk County, NY?....

My PCP has been giving me a hard time about doing anything whatsoever to assist me in getting lap band surgery. He says it has something to do with his concern about "liability." What ever happened to poutting the patient's needs first? Moreover, he doesn't even have to "clear me" medically for the surgery, the NP at the center I'm going to will do that. My fear is that because he refused to write a letter supporting the surgery I'm going to get rejected (NYS Empire Plan). If this happens I want to be able to go to another doctor who can then review my records and hopefully be a bit more supportive than my present PCP. Frankly, after this experience I'm going to leave his practice no matter what as I'm very annoyed and disappointed (to put it mildly). So does anyone know of any "obesity friendly PCP's in mid-Suffolk County? The Stonybrook area would be ideal. Thanks for any help.

I see Dr Timm at Patchogue Family Practice. It's right on Rt 112 south of Sunrise Hwy. She's pretty good. She doesn't seem to know a lot about the band but she was supportive and followed all the instructions from my surgeon's office.  I got approved by GHI within a week and had my surgery 3 weeks ago. Good luck!
