Do Tricare have an age limit for WLS?
Ther reason i have ask because my daughter do have an over 40 bmi
and over 100 pounds or more she will be 20 next week the New Pcp told her that you have to be 23 and i called tricare was told they Do not have an age limit ? so have anyone else who may have Tricare heard of this in the process this week changing Pcp
That 23 year requirement could be one that the doctor makes for his office? I would contact another doctors office and see what they say. Also, find out what, if any, requirements your daughter 's insurance company has.
On a side note- My mom got approved with Tri-Care within days- so your daugther is really lucky that she has this insurance. It was virtually effortless and she had surgery within about a month of her initial appointment. Good luck.
No, Tricare doesn't have an age limit. Most surgeon's age limits are from 18-60 years old. But there are surgeon's out there that do younger and/or older patients.
I'm thinking it is either the PCP's requirements or the PCP mixed up your daughter's insurance with another one. What a weird age, 23, to start the limit though. Almost sounds like the PCP pulled that out of their arse.
All the PCP is required to do is do a referal to a weight loss surgeon. Your daughter, the surgeon and Tricare will decide if surgery is right for your daughter.
Good luck!
