Need

I have a friend who 3 surgeons have approved for Gastric Bypass.  The problem is her insurance company excludes WLS.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Is there something that can be done.? I had WLS 15 months ago and ended up paying for it myself...long story. This is not an option for her. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you, Sasan Cook

Unfortunately, if her specific plan excludes WLS then there is nothing she would be able to do about it.  The only option she would have is to contact her human resources dept and see if they would consider a "rider" for her specific plan but she would need to pay the extra premium monthly for WLS.  Some companies will do it and some won't.  The reason why the surgery is probably not covered is because her employer did not want to pay the extra money for WLS to be in their plan specifics.
