BCBSNJ HOLY LORD! Help ...
Hi all. I did the 6 month dr. supervised weight loss program with my PCP. Saw my surgeon. Got my psych evaluation and nutrition consult. Now, BCBS NJ wants more info because I didn't lose any weight during my supervised wl program. They want an exercise and food log and proof of some sort of behavioral therapy. I didn't keep a record of this.
I have to admit that the supervised weight loss program was just paperwork to me. I didn't really try because I've been through it all before. I just knew that I needed it documented for insurance purposes.
Gettting very frustrated here. This is causing too many tears. I've wanted this surgery for about 7 years now and now that I'm close my insurance is acting as a barrier.
Should I just type up something to send them? Does anyone think this will appease them?
Thanks!
I would type something up. Do a weekly calendar or something and write up what you eat on a normal day each day- i realize that not every day is going to be the same- and so do they. It also wouldn't hurt for you to talk with your dr and ask if they could put more notes in your file as to what you were eating etc. BCBS for me requires that I do a face-to-face visit each week with a supervised weight loss program- such as WW or something like that. I am finding more and more people are being asked for something like that. I hope that helps some...
Oh- and if you show them previous attempts- anything you have tried in the past 12 months- where you tried to lose weight but didn't that might help. These retards are like- ummm you didn't lose weight on your diet? Well gee, no- do you think maybe that is why we want this surgery? LOL. Sorry- but just had to say it.
Good luck~
