Good morning everyone--I just submitted my 2nd level appeal to my insurance company Blue Care Network.  The process with the 2nd level appeal is where you actually meet with a committee of medical doctors who will determine my fate as to rather I am approved or I will be going the my last step of the appeal process which is to appeal to my state insurance commisioners, which I am claiming will not be necessary...    I have a choice of either meeting with them in person or through telephone conferencing I was told the actual meeting will only take about 15 minutes. My question is has anyone went through this process & what should I be expecting? And if this were you would you meet in person or do the telephone conference? please elaborate if possible. Any inforamtion would be very helpful.   Thanks in advance!!! Renee

If it were me- I would be there in person. Sitting in front of their face telling them why you so badly want and NEED this surgery. I would make myself real to them. On the phone you are just another voice. They can't see your sadness, pain- nothing over the phone. That is just my personal opinion. Everyone has one- but you asked for it. I will be keeping you in my thoughts though! Good luck!

That's odd for a second level appeal. Typically it's just the head (supervisor) of the appeals department that reviews it, or perhaps one medical director. Yours must be different. If they are in your area I would go. But most insurance companies only have 3 or four offices, unless you have some local company. Let us know how it goes.

I would go in person but I think you need to consider an attorney to go with you.  The whole purpose is to trip you up on saying something or not saying something.  I dont know, i dont think I would go without legal aid or bringing anyone you know that is a doctor in in the medical profession.  Be careful.  I trust just about anyone more than I do an insurance company.
