I am FINALLY APPROVED, OMG

OMG, OMG, OMG.  I finally got approved from BCBSIL after my appeal.  I am sooo excited, I'm shaking!!!  Thank you so much for all your supportive comments and telling me to hang in there and keep faith.  It worked!!

Wonderful news!!  Congrats!  I have Highmark BCBSIL PPO and was denied.  I thought they might nitpick my 6 month diet.  But they denied me because I was requesting the DS.  They only pay for the rny and lapband.  The DS is the only surgery I can have due to scar tissue at the top of my stomach because of a nissen wrap (reflux surgery).  So I'm waiting for a peer review next week to see if I may get approved.  If not, I will appeal.  How long did it take for your appeal?

I honestly think they automatically deny.  They just pick something and deny you.  I think it actually works on some people.  They think oh well, I was denied, and let it go.  If more people were on forums like this, they would realize a denial means nothing.  It just pushes your eventual surgery back a month or two!  That's it.

Anyway, I'm happy for you.  Hopefully I will be right behind you!!!

 

When they denied me it took them 1 day!!  For my appeal it took them 2 weeksto approve

why were u denied by bcbs/il? what did u do to appeal?

CONGRATS!!! I'm so happy for you.  I have BCBSIL as well and they have denied me twice. The first time it was because they didn't have my full 6mons supervised diet.  Then when it was faxed to them again they said that the paperwork wasn't detailed enough for them.  My doctor needed to write exercise and weight goals.  I have a call into Mr. Viscio to get a consultation with him before I ask my doctor about writing a supplement letter.  It is ridiculous how they are allowed to give people the run around in the hope that they will give up.  I'm not giving up.
