OBESITY LAW- have you used them?

Well I am about to enter the world of appeals.  I have looked into Obesity Law and read all of their content and that they claim a 90% success rate. HERE'S THE PROBLEM:  I have emailed and emailed and emailed TONS of people on this site that say they have used them.  NO ONE has gotten approved my using them.  I also found a trend:  they claim obesity law said they just had a "very bizarre or unusual case."  That seems like a red flag to me and a cop out for not being successful with thier case.  I would ask what their case situation was and most of them are exactly what we are all experiencing trying to get approved.  Seems like common cases to me. Has anyone used them or know someone who has that has been approved?  Everyone I talked to talked about how much they like them but I am just not seeing the numbers....

I won my appeal free and clear with my insurance company; I hired Walter Lindstrom at Obesity Law.com.  I have NO complaints about them; they were great, quick, accurate, and...I won!!!! :) Hope this helps.

They were actually assigned my case by my surgeon back in March after I was denied by my insurance, and I am so glad I decided to self pay. I heard from them one time to after they recieved all my information...and then never again. They said they would contact me if they needed anymore info or if they got got my results but I have heard nothing in 6 months even after numerous e-mail, not a word back from them! Thankfully back in May I decided to self pay or I think I would have given up long ago.

No I guess they have some sort of agreement with the surgeon that I was working with, it was all going to be free...I know they get paid by someone, but it was totally free for me.

I have a couple of suggestions. If you haven't already, ask your insurance carrier for a copy of the Clinical Policy governing WLS.  They have to have one.  Then understand what the requirements are.  Do they really require going to a meeting once a month in this policy? As far as if there is a requirement.  I could appeal that saying you have been online and doing research and have your doctor write a letter saying you understand the risks and life change.  Also have your nutritionist do the same. At 120 pounds over weight you should have a BMI over 40 and the usual rules are 35 to 40 BMI with co-morbidities and 40 or above you do not have to have any.  This requirement will be in the clinical policy. Good luck, Jim
