Aetna Insurance

If you have had Aetna and were approved or denied what were your experiences like?  Please share, I may end up having my surgery thru them.  Thanks your for responses, I appreciate all input. Rahsheeda

Get their requirements in writing, they'll give them to you online.  Get them NOW!!!  Follow them every step of the way and give them every piece of documentation they require. Then it should go pretty good. They're a dot your "i's" and cross your "t's" company, but not unreasonable.  HUGS

I have an Aetna Choice Plus PPO plan. They denied my first request for lack of 5 yr weight history w/co-morbs and proof of weight loss attempts and I had to get on a "supervised" pre-op diet. My appeal is being reviewed now and I should have an answer by the 13th. I'm optimistic! So far they've been an awesome carrier. Hope it works for you.   This is what you need to know backwards and forewards.  It's the only thing they will refer you to if you call them. I think I've read it 4000 times.  Good luck.  I am still waiting to hear from them. It's been 3 weeks since the office sent my tests and paperwork, they have had my papers since the 10th of this month.  One thing though, I have called every day for a week and each precert person has been nothing but nice, polite and helpful....they just don't have much information. "It's still pending" is a lot of what I hear.

I kept reading people heard in a few days.  Guess not anymore. They must get a lot of precerts nowadays.  I'm sure their process is very rigorous too.  You have to have what they want and they will ok you in most cases is what I hear.
