I am so annoyed right now.  I was told by my surgeon's office that they think my insurance may require it.  If they do I'm going to be so MAD!

I hate to be the first to reply with a less than desirable answer...but I have BC/BS and asked a very similar question and it seems that most of their policies do require the 6 month diet plan but they do have over 2100 different plans.  Your best bet is going to be to call into customer service and ask them what the specifics of your policy are, I did find on their website this file: http://www.empireblue.com/provider/noapplication/f2/s5/t9/pw _ad080419.pdf but do verify that it is applicable to your insurance....I do not work for insurance.  Good Luck!

Hi Mrs_Kimmie, just wanted to let you know that I have Empire BCBS out of NY and I did not have to have a 6 month diet.  My surgeon thought I would as well but it wasn't a requirement for my plan.  All I need was a letter from my PCP stating it was medically necessary.  Feel free to message me if you have any additional questions. (I turned in my paperwork and got a call for my approval within 2 weeks)  Good Luck Kenna

Thanks everyone.  As I explained on the lap band board, I'm a dork.  I DO have the 6 mos of dieting under a nutritionist's are (from Nov. 06 to Apr. 07) but I totally forgot I submitted the paperwork to my doctor's office.  I'll call them tomorrow.
