Insurance Exclusion Now

A few years ago I thought about WLS and went so far as to apply to insurance and be approved. Our school system then changed from a self-insured group to BCBS of TN. I didn't have the surgery at earlier time but later I began to check on it again and then found that our new policy had a weight loss exclusion, so it is not covered at all.  I wondered if they (school system) paid for WLS on the previous plan for 1 person in our system, would they have to pay for mine now? Anyone have any legal knowledge on this? I too have BCBS of TN. I have that same no obesity related procedures clause and they tell me it's because my husband's company chose to pay less and go with that plan. I was told that if I can find one person they covered then I'm set, however I'm not sure with your company having changed insurance providers if this would apply. Good Luck!
