Hi, I am curious, as I am still working on my 6 month Dr supervised diet. My weight yo-yos from onth to month with sometimes a loss at weigh in and sometimes a gain. Not huge amounts, but still a few pounds either way. I can't seem to lose and keep it off. I am wondering what the insurance companies are really looking for. Will I get denied because I can't seem to lose anything, or not much. The office manager at the surgeons office told me they are not looking for the loss. Its the insurance companies, and most denials are to people who don't lose anything. Also the food journals,  mine has goals, I write in to exercise, and I write how long I exercise, what I eat and when. How hungry I am, what mood I am in feelings etc. Thats what the nutrisionists wants, and she works with the surgeons office. She gave me a 1200 calorie diet, and I am on a Gluten Free diet as well. I am so confused by some of this, and I would hate to make it to the end of the 6 months to get denied. I just don't want to have to starve to get a loss to be approved. What do you think?                                 Renee

I have the same insurance as you and they denied me because I did not lose enough weight on my 6 month diet.  I am current in the appeal process.  I lost a total of 8 pounds, some months I lost but one month I gained.  I read a post on this website where one girls mom was denied because she lost too much.  How much have you lost??

Hey Renee, I have BCBSIL too, and the Nurse in the Medical Reveiw Unit was trying to tell my Angel, Ashlee, that my 1500 a day calorie diet was troo many calories, I should be on <1000 a day, ofcourse they did not send that to me in writing, but still, I have lost 95 lbs in 4 yrs, and been in a supervisered diet, with RX for 74 weeks. They still have not approved me, and I have 133 pages of Dr. SIGN exercise logs, food journals (Medifast), Curves printout, and I am not approved... They have not reveiw my file in it's entirerity. Talk about being P.O.ed about being Miss. Red, that would be me. Your not alone, your fears are valid, and they IS NO WAY of telling wheither or not you are doing this to be denied. However, You DO know if you are willing to fight the good battle. So if you get denied, SO? You know you have 2 appeals, internal, and external. USE THEM!!! Gary Viscio is also here, and I swear, if BCBSIL does not approve me by Wednesday, I am just going to hire him for the appeals. It has affected my life to in such a way my BP is high now, and I lost 10 lbs in 8 days,(which I am a diabetic, and my dr. is NOT happy about) So if you are in it for the long haul, you know it can be a long battle that a waits. Tire some it is, but hey, anything worth fighting for, has never came easy, Right? Hope this helps, Renee! Your not alone, if you need anything, PM me! Shirley, Las Vegas
