Hi! My surgeon's office also submitted my paperwork recently.(last Thursday) I have been calling once in the morning and once in the evening every day. Yesterday, I got a call saying that they denied me because they didn't have a copy of the psych evaluation. I quickly got it faxed to them. I believe that because of my bugging them, they paid more attention to my case. The customer service person was amazed that they were already looking at my case because they have 30-45 days to respond. My point is, when you call them, you are letting them know that you aren't going to leave them alone and they need to pay attention to you. Also, by calling, you will find out more quickly if they need more information. I thought my surgeon's office had submitted EVERYTHING, but I was wrong. BCBS said they had 71 pages faxed to them, but none of them were the psych evaluation! So, be persistant because persistance pays off!!!! BTW, I have BCBS of Illinois, Karen

That's the same insurance company I have.  I called them and they said they sent me out a letter yesterday requesting more information but the guy wouldn't tell me what it was because of HIPPA laws.  I asked him "So it is not a denial letter then" he said no just need more info

Please don't listen to that guy! The first time I submitted my paperwork, they denied me due to lack of info. I asked them and they put me on hold and came back and told me exactly what I was lacking! And also, this time that I submitted my six month diet info, they CALLED ME to tell me exactly what it was that they were missing in order to make the decision. So, don't listen to him!!! Call back! You'll probably get someone else. If you want to speak with someone really helpful, ask for extension 2953. Her name is Omega. I spoke with her this afternoon. She said that they still hadn't made a decision, but she put me on hold and somehow marked mine as urgent. She said I should know something at least by Tuesday!!!!!!!!! So, don't feel bad about calling and calling. I've called them about 4 or 5 times today because I knew that they'd been looking at my file and they might make a decision (plus, I'm impatient!!!) Another person that I spoke with was Sonya. She was nice, but didn't really do anything to help urge BCBS along with their decision. I hope this helps you! Please let me know when you get your answer!  Karen

Karen is right, don't hesitate to hang up after talking to your insurance and call back and speak to another rep. I do this sometimes at work ( I do medical billing and spend alot of time on the phone to insurance companies). Another rep, will give you, often times, a completly different answer or give you the information you need. The rep. you spoke to sounded very confused about the HIPAA (health insurance portability and acountability act). He should be able to tell you what ever you need to know after confirming you are the patient (using your date of birth, address, or SSN). This act is to protect you as the patient from having your medical info.disclosed to people who do not need it. After confirming you are the patient there should be no problem giving you any information.  Also if the rep. you are talking to seems confused or unsure dont be afraid to ask to speak to a supervisor, remember, supervisors have the authority to do things and get things done that the regular customer service people do not.  Call your insurance often so you do not fall through the cracks, they have alot of work to do so if you keep calling you have a better chance of getting taken care of. Remember, you are paying them for a service so MAKE SURE YOU GET IT! Kim B.

OMG! If I were you, I don't think I'd be able to stop myself from constantly calling them! It's just too exciting! My fingers are crossed for you.
