My insurance United Health Care told my doctor that I need to major medical problems....sleep apnea, diabetes, coronary heart disease b/c my bmi is only 36.2. What do I do now? I don't have anything majorly medicaly wrong w/ me just fat....help

That is most insurances that I've seen. You have to have a BMI over 40 with out a co-morbidity (the medical problems you mentioned) or over 35 with one. Sorry, I know it stinks. I'm assuming you did all the testing for co-morbs since your surgeon submitted to insurance right? If you just answered no on questionaires and didn't have the test, do them. Many people find co-morbs they weren't aware of. Other than that I'm not sure what you can do. (HUGS)

You might be able to get it if you have a family history of any of the diseases/disorders that are caused by or exacerbated by obesity. Does ANYONE in your family have: Hypertension (High Blood Pressure), High Cholesterol, Heart Disease, Heart Attack, Diabetes (1 or 2), sleep apnea, organ failure, arthritis, strokes, congestive-heart failure, joint deterioration, etc. Use that as a pre-disposition genetically; you might not have them now, but you may in the future if the weight loss surgery is not approved.
