Hey guys I need some help I live in Virginia and Work in Maryland and I have the Optinum Choice insurance they keep telling me that My employer excludes Gastric Bypass which is not true there are a number of people for the large company i work for that has had this procedure. However the insurance company says the state mandate for both states does not work cuz the policy is written out of washington DC. I have a bmi of 77 this is a necessity

You need to get something in writing, the policy or whatever showing they're wrong

When I did medical account bill collection for a large medical billing company we were taught that an insurance that sells policies to patients living in a different state then where the insurance company is located must abide by the state laws of where the patient lives. I am from California and there is quite alot of out of state Blue Cross here. Mr. Viscio, is this fact true? Thanks,  Kim B.
