BCBS of AL denied! I'm going to appeal!

The surgeon's office submitted my stuff online Friday and I called Blue Cross this morning and they said it did not meet medical criteria.  I'm thinking that means I didn't have a weight record for one of the years and they wanted a 3 yr weight history.  I did have pictures though and the nurse said she mailed my pictures to them on Friday so they should get them today or tomorrow.  She told me not to call the insurance company back and to wait and call her back on Friday and she should know something by then.  She said it takes the pictures a day or two to get to a case manager and for them to look at them.  It just burns me up for them to think I got a BMI of 46.6 overnight!   For crying out loud!!!  I know yall been thru this mess but it sure is hard when you're going thru it yourself!  Guess all I can do is stay busy and make the time pass quickly this week and WAIT!  This is sooo frustrating!  You'd think they'd look back and see where they paid for a foot surgery in June of 2006 and a knee surgery in February of this year and approve the dang thang!   #*%@#$

I'm sorry you're having problems with BCBS. I also have BCBS, but mine is with Illinois. They told me that I haven't met the criteria, either. So, I did what I could to gather more proof and am going to send it in next week. My friend has the same company as I have and she had to fight, also. She is now approved and her surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday! So, please don't give up. That is what they are hoping you will do so they don't have to pay! Fight the good fight! Oh, and let me know if the pictures help! I have lots I could send in for proof, too!

Hi Karen, Thanks for the reply. I will keep yall posted as to what happens.  I lived in Little Rock for 17 years but never dealt with their insurance there.  I hope the pictures work!  If not, my next move is to get notarized letters from friends, family and co workers.  I'm not giving up so easy!  I pay my premiums and now I want my benefit from it!
