BCBS/Alabama experience with approval???
I know you ALL know what I'm going through and since no one in my life does I thought venting here would be better than driving everyone crazy. My surgeon sent my paper work to my insurance company (BCBS/Alabama) on July 3rd. I kept calling to verify they recieved it and it didn't get posted into their system as having been received until July 9th. Then it took 2 MORE days to show that it was received in the medical review area. So it took over a week just to get where it needed to go. So now the review board has it and it's been almost 2 weeks so I called and it's still in process and they tell me it could take 30 - 60 days!??!!!?? Has anyone had their insurance company tell them this? From what I read on the forums I usually read that people get an answer in a week or so. I just I just need to vent. I know you all know what I"m going through. My surgeons office has me tentatively scheduled for August 13th but if I don't hear soon it looks like that won't happen.
Just would like some feedback from those who have been here.
Thanks,
Marianne C.
I know you're going to hate hearing this, but it took 7 months for mine to sit with the medical review board and I finally got a letter last week stating that I'm approved but that I need to get a mandatory second surgical opinion. I've never even heard of this requirement before and now they throw this one at me.
They keep coming up with new ones, but I'll keep up the good fight until I win.
I certainly hope that my case is rare and that you hear something soon!

Ohmy LORD Traci that is terrible! What the heck is up with that??????? I have never ever heard of such a thing! I keep hearing more and more things like this about Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama. But good for you for your persistance. They WILL pay for this for you! DO NOT GIVE UP!
BTW... thank you VERY much for taking the tiem to reply to me. I do appreciate it.
Keep in touch.. let me know how you make out ok?

Hello Marrianne I have bcbs of Ill. I had to do 12 mos supervised visits and we submitted all my paperwork on May 22. My surgeons office had to submit all paperwork 3 times because they claimed they did not have it. They denied claim saying they only had 4 mos supervised visits when they had all 12 had to resubmit several different items they claimed was not in files. I talked with someone different every time and my surgeons office would speak to someone different than I did and recieve a different explanation . We filed an appeal and after calling every day for several weeks was approved 07/23/07. After rambling on my point is dont give up!!! A gal named Robin on this board gave me great advice, Every time you call ask for same person and notate times and dates. This will come in handy if you have to appeal. Good Luck It will happen for you just hang in there and DONT GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
