Insurance excludes coverage - do I have any options to appeal?

I have been sick for the last few months.  I just had a liver biposy and found out that I have NAFLD (Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease).  My gastrologist recommended having a bariatric procedure as soon as possible due to the amount of fat in my liver.   I worked with my insurance company to find surgeons that they approve.  Two weeks later I finally found a surgeon I like and then I find out that my insurance excludes bariatric surgery coverage.  They said that my company is one of the only ones that doesn't offer this coverage under my plan and that is why they recommended surgeons a few weeks ago.  They told me to call my HR department.  HR told me that there is nothing they can do - they will not even allow me to switch to another plan. Is there anything I can do?  My family thinks I should appeal, but I don't think that is an option since the coverage is excluded.  I am desperate to have this procedure due to my current health but I feel like I am getting ripped off by paying out of pocket after all of the money I spend on my insurance.  Thank you in advance for your help!

appealing only means you're going to press on.  No guarantees but you never know.  The post I just moved to the i have been approved section was from someone who had an exclusion
