Changing Insurance AFTER Surgery-Pre Existing?

I am looking to have surgery the first or second week of August.  However, my husband is changing employers and and our insurance is changing beginning September 1st.   Will my after care be covered under my new insurance, or will that be prevented with any pre-existing clauses?  I am scared that I will have the surgery and my new insurance won't touch me because of any "clauses" they may have. Does anyone have any experience such as mine? Thank you so much! Cynthia Gwin

As long as you don't have any lapse in coverage, you should be fine with no pre-existing clause.  Good luck! Kit

Thank you very much. That makes me feel so much better and I have a lot less fear now. Cynthia

Just don't let your insurance lapse!  If the benefits kick in right away, you're fine.  But if there is a period of time after he starts the job where he has no insurance, definitely pay for COBRA and don't let it lapse.  As long as there isn't a break, they have to give you the same coverage.

The lapse period is 63 days.  You just have to keep an eye on that.
