Insurance website finding approval

Is there a place on the insurance websites that I can go to see status of a approval ( or denial but we dont use that word !! ) I have aetna pos II and the website I use is www.aetna.com

I called Aetna and asked that same question a few weeks ago and I was told no 

the problem is with HIPPA's privacy rules it's very hard to do something like that. It would make life easier
