Any Chance of avoiding the 6month diet?
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone had any knowledge about the 6 month diet? Insurance said with in the past 24 months....does this mean a weigh in every month? I am post partum, and was weighed every month for 11 months or so.....also I work in a hospital, and was part of the "biggest looser" competition in the hospital, and was weighed bi-weekly for 6 months but our nuring supervisor......Does anyone think either of these could work? I wont bother going through the trouble getting the documentation if not....
Thanks Amanda
It cant hurt...submit anything and everything. My insurance is bcbs of al and the criteria was 6 months of documented weight and must be discussion on doctors notes, ww documentation, curves or any diet/weight loss program. it had to be 3 months consecutive and the other 3 months did not need to be consecutive but all had to be within the last 2 years. I also had to have proof of bmi over40 for 5 yrs. oh the 3 months consecutive was not 4 months exactly just had to have 3 different months on it..like jun10, july1, august 30 for example. Now this was my insurance..you can only submit what you have and hope it works. the lady in my surgeons office was wonderful and did the submitting for me.
Amanda,
You could try. Different insurance companies have different requirements for documentation. I sent my insurance a note protesting the need for a three months diet-they sent me a note saying they wanted me to do it to prove I would be compliant with the post op dietary requirements.
I did my three months, gained a half pound, got my approval and have lost about twenty pounds since I started my 1 week pre op diet-and having surgery June 6.
The diet requirement is a big hold up for so many of us who have had surgery-as well as those still waiting.
I know it can be really hard to be patient at this point, but stay strong!
