My surgein's office wants my PCP to send them a note to include with my insurance authorization letter showing my weight at 5 different times over 5 or more years. My doctor's office still hasn't sent the data, after me bugging them for 2 months.. How do I put the pressure on my doctor's office to get this data to the surgeon? Do I have to go to a lawyer??? I live in Washington state.

You probaly need to tell your PCP's office that you will be picking up the letter yourself & they will probaly get it ready for you in 48-72 hours.  Actually, my PCP had my letter ready for me to pick up in 24hrs.  I faxed the letter to my Surgeon's office.

Fax or hand deliver a written request. They have 30 days to give you records. Most dr's here need written requests before sending the info.

I agree with Nursemate.  Call the office and tell them you are going to come pick it up at a certain time.  I have never had trouble with getting records, but some offices could care less.  If you still do not have any results, call and ask for the office manager.
