Can anyone help? BCBSM - no pre-approval required???

I have blue cross blue shield of Michigan and they are saying they do not require approval and therefore won't give it. That if I meet all of their criteria (which I have), my surgery will be paid for. This is after two months of waiting on something. The surgeon's office says they won't do the surgery without some kind of approval...I don't blame them. What do I do now? Does anybody have bcbsm? How did you find a surgeon that would do your surgery?

You need to call back and talk to a manager. It depends on who answers the phone, what time of day it is, the day of the month it is. Some people don't want to answer your questions. It sounds like you talked to someone that didn't want to be bothered with what you were asking for. I have gotten so many different answers when I talk to my insurance. If you want to know then talk to someone who's really in charge of the idiots that answer phones and NEVER help you.

Hi, I too have encountered the same run around with BCBS of MI.  I feel your pain.  I have been trying to get pre-authorization from them for a year now. My surgeon will not perform the surgery w/out pre-auth either, so, I'm trying to make sure all the i's and t's are dotted and crossed so that they can get a pre-auth.  I've read about people on here getting the pre-auth after completing all the pre-req's, so I'm hoping and praying that once I complete them, I will get them too. This ins is a pain in the butt and they make it very difficult..but nothing worth anything ever comes easy, or so I'm told. Good Luck -Traci
