Anyone have a HSA?

I've already had my RNY 10 months ago but now I'm thinking plastics (in some areas).  My work is changing from a typical insurance to a Health Savings Account.  They haven't told us a whole lot on it.  But does anyone know if the PS would be covered under the HSA?  My current insurance will only cover PS if there is a major problem, I've only had a couple infections but nothing major.

MrsK, I am in Wisonsin too! Anyhow, we have the option of on HSA or a traditional plan.  The difference for ours is not WHAT is covered, just how much our deductibles and co-pays are.  It is basically the same policy, but with a much lower premium cost but a much higher deductible. Not sure if all companies do their HSAs this way or not. Best of luck, Lisa

Thanks for the reply Lisa.   With yours are there things that don't get covered?  Does that mean plastics would be covered, after deductable/co-pays?  I know I'll have to wait to see what they do with ours but I'm just curious. Thanks Missy

With my policy, the HSA covered ONLY those items that were covered in our traditional policy.  The actual policy is the same, but the co pays and deductible are much higher. You need to look at what your current policy covers-your HSA would probably have the same coverage and exclusions.  At least this is how my husband's company runs their insurance program. Best of luck, Lisa R.
