12 MONTH DIET???!!!!

I just called my insurance company yesterday to check up on my paperwork.  They received it and they are requesting more info.....psych eval and 6 month "monitored" diet.  OK......I can live with that.......OOPS!!!!  The operator informs me that while BCBS of Texas requires a 6 month supervised diet the company my husband works for requires 12 months?????????  This is news to me.  I never read this on our policy.   I am also a little confused.....my policy states that if BMI is less than 40 I would need 2+ comorbids.......I am 40+ with 2 comorbids.  What the Heck!!!  I will wait for the official letter.  Should I pursue this with assistance?  If I do could my husband's job or insurance seek "retribution"?
