Hi,    I was wondering if Cigna  will cover the cost of a medically supervised diet,(food , initial payment etc) like optifast, ct weight and wellness, something along those lines.  My bariatrics doctor has one too. Thanks Crystal

Have you tried looking into a nutritionist covered by Cigna instead of optifast or something a long those lines.  I know when I saw my nutritionist, it was fully covered, but it wasn't Cigna.

Mostly likely they won't. Most plans will not cover those types of things. It's based on if an employer elects to offer their employees those benefits and 99% of the time they don't. You can go to your PCP and have them put you on a medically supervised weight loss program. They should bill it just like an office visit. I have Cigna and my six months has to be done by my PCP. Nothing will be excepted if done outside of that per my plan. Cigna has a coverage position page that may break it down a little better. Hope that helps
