Change in Insurance Coverage
I was just looking for some insight. I had bc/bs-il in 04/2007 I left my job. I was 4 months into my 6 month sup. weightloss. My husband may be getting a job that uses Empire bc/bs. I dont have any detailed info but I looked on their website and I saw something about pre-existing illnesses not being covered. I didnt know that insurance companies still did that. We had insurance up to last month I dont know if that will make a difference. I would hate to have to wait 1 year for the pre-existing illness to be covered. Any insight would be helpful. Thank-You
If you husband is moving to a large group (typically, a company with over 50 employees), pre-existing clauses don't usually apply. However, depending on the requirements set forth by the new employer regarding bariatric coverage, you will want to apprise yourself of any differences in requirements between the two plans.
My best wishes for your husband's new employer.
I have to respectively disagree with the above post. I work in an ins company and all our large groups with hundreds of employees still have preexisting. If you were covered and did not have a break of over 60 days then preexisting will not apply, however, if there was a break of 60 days, that is my insurance company not sure what others are and if you were treated for that condition then preexisting can apply. Good Luck.
