UHC Bariatric Resource Services Program
Well, I finially got up the nerve to call UHC to get more info on how to start the WLS process. The guy said that as of our new insurance plan year on June 1, my company had subscribed to this "Bariatric Resource Program." He said it was a program where I would work with a nurse to get preapproval and said it was easier to get approval. He said since I had to wait until after June 1 to apply for the program since we didn't have the program now and if I applied for approval now the regular way it wouldn't even be approved by june 1.
Does anyone have experience with this program? is it really easier to get approved? I've got a friend that was turned down from my insurance b/c she hadn't had a bmi of 40 for 5 years, but I've heard others say the insurance only requires 5 years of being overweight. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

So I called UHC today and I asked about that program you were telling me about and the guy I talked to didn't know anything about it, but that really doesn't suprise me. So I am going to call tomorrow and see if I can find someone who is a little more helpful.
