I just had a quick question. I am going to a hospital in boston and they have a 600 dollar fee just for starting the program, I work for an insurance company and I know how my insurance works for the most part. They say this is to help cover the nutritionist visits and administrative fee's that arent covered by insurance, my question is isnt this balance billing? When they bill my insurance company for the surgery most likely it will be billed in a bundle including post op visits and porbably some nutritionist visits ect. When i goto a contracted provider aren't they only allowed to bill me for what the insurance company allows them to. Arent the administrative fee's ect supposed to be included in what my insurance company pays? I know this seems pety but let me just explained i went to the information session and almost everyone in the room was on medicare not that i think they should descriminate but none of them seemed like there was any reason they couldnt be working and many were in there 20's... If medicare is not covering nutritionists or whatever else for them why should i have to pay more? I came to this conclusion mostly because neither of the two hospitals I looked into in new hampshire had many medicare patients and there wasnt any fee... I am 23 and working fulltime and going to school fulltime why should i have to make up for people that dont work? I'm sorry i guess it wasnt just a quick question and i hope i dont sound snobby i just needed to rant... my real question is, is it possible it's against there contract?

Hi paul,
Thanks for responding and making me laugh in the proccess.... I am going to fight this and you would think they would understand that i work for the same insurance company? Which also means i have access to internal information and departments most people wouldnt even know about. So i'm going to get in touch with the provider relations department and look into this at the very least i can save someone else from having to deal with this in the future. thanks again
