UHC going crazy and really confused????

Good Afternoon, I called my insurance company and they said they dont have an exclusion maybe they did not know what the heck I was talking about.  Then she said the plan I have does not cover it but if it is a medical need then they can approve it I do not know what to do does anyone have advice.  I am fustrated. xo Liliana

Dear Liliana: Call your employer's HR department and get them to clarify the policy on WLS.  I too have UHC and got the same runaround with customer care. They told me that I could be approved if medically necessary. Unfortunately, this wsn't the case--my policy has an exclusion which prohibits all WLS, even if medically necessary.  I'm afraid you might be spinning your wheels while waiting for approval. So go straight to your HR department and ask them what the policy reads.  Then ask them for a copy of it so you have it. Hope this helps.
