i'm just beginning the pre-op process at kaiser south san francisco--and i mean really just beginning (got my referral to the bariatric surgeon last week).  i just want to have some idea of what's ahead of me--i have heard that there's a six month supervised diet maybe, also maybe a 6 month class, etc. etc.  has anyone been through this, and if so, would you be willing to share the details of your experience?  feel free to private message if you prefer!  thanks SO much-- sarah

Hi  I am in the pre-op process also but thru Kaiser Santa Rosa. I am taking a 14 week weight loss surgery class that seems to be only offered at Kaiser Santa Rosa. This is instead of the 6 month supervised diet. You should try to get into this class even though it would be a drive for you. The class is really good. Make sure you go to a Weight Loss surgery Overview class, you will learn all you have to do to get the surgery. Also you have to lose 10% of you current weight, you probably already knew this. So go to SSF and get weight so you have a starting weighed on paper.   Good Luck  Shauna
