Does insurance ever pay for tummy tuck???

I need surgery to get rid of the hangy skin of my tummy.  I was quoted $7,000 for plastic surgery. I have Humana Gold insurance.  I live in Atlanta, GA area.  Does insurance ever cover plastic surgery to get rid of this extra skin? GH

Yes, sometimes.  If the weight of the skin is shown to be causing or worsening back problems, or if the folds of skin develop a chronic infection, the removal can be deemed to be medically necessary.  A friend of mine who lost 150 lbs after her DS had her tummy tuck paid by insurance for exactly these reasons.
