Insurance approving of Co-Morbs

Does every insurance company except all co-morbs when qualifying for WLS? Or does each insurance company deside which co-morbs they will except for WLS? I'm reading some people saying depression is a co-morb. I've been on medication for over 3 years for it. I'm with Tricare. I'm wondering then, if Tricare considers this a co-morb towards approving WLS? In the policy handbook it mentions a few co-morbs listed with "etc" after. So I'm not all too sure which ones they consider. Anyone know? Thanks!

I'm new here, too, so I don't know about most insurance companies. But I can tell you about my insurance company. I have BCBS of Illinois and the plan I have with them says that if you have a BMI of 40 or above, they do not require you to have co-morbidities. On my plan, you must have co-morbidities only if your BMI is 35-39.  As for depression being a co-morbidity, I don't know. My insurance company didn't mention depression.  I hope this helps a little. Thanks Karen, I am over 40BMI but my insurance says I need to be over 200% of my ideal body weight. I'm only 2lbs over that right now. If I have a co-morb, I'd only need to be 100lbs over my ideal body weight. Which I'm way over. So, just to have less stress/questions about whether or not I'll get approved......  I know the best thing to do (and what I'll be doing in the morning) is to just call my insurance. But I wanted to see if anyone here knew in the meantime. Thanks again!
