insurance codes

someone once posted that code 278 was not covered by insurnce companies yet a different code is. Can someone please tell me what that code is.. I think it was 278.1 for obesity

Sorry that i dont know the code that you are asking for but... the 3 digit codes are diagnosis code... what you need to do is call your surgeon and ask them for the codes that they bill with i know mine uses 278.01 for morbid obesity... actually maybe that's the code you're looking for? anyway  to be honest you should be more worried about the procedure codes being covered then  the diagnosis codes. every insurance policy is different and every dr is different you need to put the codes your dr uses with your insurance policy. hope that helped a little good luck

Thank you. That is what I was looking for.  My insurance denied the barium swallow bill because of the wrong  diagnosis code. Go figure. And of course they won't help you to tell ya what the correct code should be.   But you confirmed what i thought the code should be. thanks for the help.
